West Hollywood Halloween Parade 2010

Thank you Stewart.  I would never have gone without the parking place.

My favorite is the last one.

I Couldn't Go to D.C. So I Went to MacArthur Park

Love him or hate him, Jon Stewart is a genius. Jane Cross and I were going to go to D.C. to the Rally to Restore Sanity.  It didn't work out.

Los Angeles was one of the cities to hold a satellite event.  I wasn't sure I could get near enough to find parking.  There was plenty, so I popped in for half an hour.

There was not a huge crowd, but it was diverse, and the mood was certainly elevated.  I am sure we could have done without the guy running by dressed as a marijuana leaf.

Be Prepared to be Scared Universal Studios' Halloween Horror Night

Universal Studios' annual Halloween Horror Night is outdoing itself this year. From now until October 31st be prepared to be afraid, very afraid.

There are 5 new mazes depicting scenes for your favorite scary movies:  A Nightmare on Elm St., Friday 13th, House of 1000 Corpses (haven't heard of that one), Saw, and Vampyre.

You will wander past the woman who drowned her children and is now back looking for souls to replace them. Take the round trip tram to Skull Island where you will meet a 3D King Kong, pass through Jurassic Park in the Dark, escape (hopefully) the Revenge of the Money, and see The Simpsons (not sure what is scary about them).

You will also have a chance to take a tour of the famous backlot after dark and visit some of the frightening sets normally not open to the general public.  This will be part of a 5 hour RIP Experience where you will have your own private guide throughout the evening.

I loved their Survival Guide below:

Be Ready to Scare Yourself to Death at the Los Angeles Haunted Hayride

Primarily and East Coast tradition, hayrides are the bellweather for SCARE!!!Halloween

Be ready to be scared to death at this year's Los Angeles Haunted Hayride.

The venue is Griffith Park, site of a zoo 100 years ago.  The story goes that shortly after the zoo opened in the early 1900s, the animals began to behave strangely.  Stories circulated that visitors were being killed and animals were going missing.  It was rumored that the soo was built on the site where cult sacrifices were practiced.

The community built a church at the entrance to the zoo and one day when they were all crowded in, the doors locked and the church was engulfed by flames.  Many perished. Fact or fiction?

As you ride around the grounds in a tractor driven hay-filled wagon be prepared to meet the ghosts of those who died.

Also available with be a Carnival of Souls and a Haunted Haymaze.
