Proximity to your workplace, if you are going to be commuting every day.  As you possibly may have heard, Los Angeles traffic can be a little congested.  Depending on the time of day a 5 mile journey could take up to half an hour

Do you want a view?  If you do, you should head for the hills.

You are moving to Los Angeles and want to get a feel of it before committing, try renting. You might even be able to negotiate a lease purchase if the landlord is willing.  But it is an excellent way to experience living in Los Angeles.
