Never tell the builder that you really don't care where he puts the garage.

Posted by Richard Mielke, REALTOR, Gettysburg Pennsylvania Real Estate (Miller & Associates Real Estate, LLC) over 2 years ago

Okay there must be a story behind this...are you saving it for another post, Great Photo.

Merry Christmas From Fred Carver

Posted by Victoria Realtor Fred Carver ACRE 250-598-2963 Accredited Consultant (Re/Max Camosun Real Estate) over 2 years ago

Actually, Richard,  in this case I think I would have told the builder where he can put his garage.

Fred,  I honestly can't think of one single thing.  Maybe I should make it a competition.

In Albany we have homes just like this.  The garage is elevated so that when the snow gets too high, you can still park your car in the garage!!!!

Posted by Lewis Beynon, Clifton Park NY Real Estate (Prime Property Solutions, LLC) over 2 years ago

Wow,  Lewis,  what a brilliant idea.  So, in the summer months you just leave your car outside in the sun!

Posted by Jane Peters - Los Angeles Real Estate DRE# 01439865 (Power Brokers Int'l) over 2 years ago

whoa....how does one get into that garage???

Posted by Celeste "SALLY" Cheeseman, RA, CRS, HAWAII Real Estate & Relocations (Century 21 Liberty Homes) over 2 years ago

In the High Sierras, outhouses are built like this--in the summer you climb up the stairs (or ladder) so in the winter you can ski in and still have use of an outhouse.

But this garage? "HUH" is the ONLY thing to say.

Jane, that reminds me of the mail boxes I've seen way up on a pole for "air mail"!

Sally,  your guess is as good as mine.

Betty & John, LOL

Lottie,  I really can't picture elevated outhouses, but whatever works :)

Hi Jane,  The garage of the future, when we all have our PFMs ???

Posted by Mary Douglas, REALTOR ®, Red Feather Lakes, Colorado (United Country Ponderosa Realty) over 2 years ago

Larry,  I guess if you hit the right speed you could jump over the gap and into the garage

Mary,  is that something flying machines?

Jane,

It's for their flying automobile. You can tell by the roof, that he had a few problems trying to land in the garage. Possibly some turbulance...?

More like they did not check the height limit for their truck, Michael.

I believe the builder sold the home to the Jetsons.  At least their car will fly.

Finally a garage where I can park my hover craft.  How much is it?

Posted by Tammy Lankford/Broker Lane Realty Lake Sinclair-Central GA over 2 years ago

There must be some cartoon character living there, Dale.

Tammy, I don't even think your hovercraft will lift up that high.

Posted by Jane Peters - Los Angeles Real Estate DRE# 01439865 (Power Brokers Int'l) over 2 years ago

Wow, so does that mean that the view from the garage is really spectacular and the owners wanted an unobstructed covered view, but didn't know how to ask for a veranda?

Posted by Ed Silva CDPE, GRI, ABR, Real Estate Agent (RE/MAX Professionals, CT 203-206-0754) over 2 years ago

Yep. This house is definitely upside down.

Posted by Lee & Carol Barbour, Realtors® Murphy, NC Homes For Sale (Mountain Living Team - Coldwell Banker High Country) over 2 years ago

Jane, I think it should have been a contest and then at the end, you have to come up with a logical explanation other than "huh"....right now, "huh" is the only thing that really works.

Posted by Jane Cross (Homes By Cross serving Charlotte NC Real Estate Needs) over 2 years ago

A room with a retractable view. How continental ! Let them eat cake.

Posted by Claude Cross-Charlotte NC Real Estate(Homes By Cross, Inc.) over 2 years ago

Jane..you crack me Up...You are really very Funny ....

Hannah

Posted by Hannah Williams (Re/Max Eastern inc.) over 2 years ago

Ed,  that's as good an explanation as any.

Carol,  you think!

Jane,  I should have made it a contest. That would have been funny.

Claude,  A backwards retractable view.  The view is the other side of the house.

Hannah,  thank you, I think :)

Posted by Sheldon Neal ~ That British Agent ~ Bergen County NJ (Bergen County, NJ - RE/MAX Real Estate Limited) over 2 years ago

Sheldon,  I should have knocked on the garage door and asked.  Oh wait, I couldn't.

Posted by Jane Peters - Los Angeles Real Estate DRE# 01439865 (Power Brokers Int'l) over 2 years ago

Jane - you have seemed to NAIL the Speechless part of Sunday - are you kidding me?  I with some of the others though - perhaps a forward thinking building just planning for the private flying cars to be invented!

Is this the home of the guy who flies the hover craft for Orbitz?

Posted by James K Barath, CMPS - Illinois Indiana FHA Loan Expert - GVC Mortgage, Inc (HUD Approved Lender: 219-662-0166) over 2 years ago

A garage door wall simply allows you to have access to the outdoors very easily when the weather is good. Hey, I'm trying here. LOL

Happy end of year!

Posted by Russel Ray, San Diego Business & Marketing Consultant & Photographer (Russel Ray) over 2 years ago

James,  you are the second hovercraft mentioner.  A hovercraft wouldn't be able to get that high.  So no! :)

Russel,  also no! :)

Posted by Jane Peters - Los Angeles Real Estate DRE# 01439865 (Power Brokers Int'l) over 2 years ago

Jane,

Maybe they just said that they wanted a wall they could open up to the outdoors and this was the solution. :)

Posted by Jane Peters - Los Angeles Real Estate DRE# 01439865 (Power Brokers Int'l) over 2 years ago

Jane, That's too funny. I knew LA people were different, but this blows my mind!

Posted by Rich Cederberg- Albuquerque Real Estate Agent (Venture Realty Group) over 2 years ago

Jane, it's quite obvious what happened here:

  1. Evidenced by the marks on the fascia/gutters, this home has been moved from another location.
  2. The garage section was one of 4+ different sections that was transported by truck to its new location.
  3. The truck driver with the garage got a flat tire...and was the last to arrive, so he had no choice but to plop the garage on top of what was previously the second story!

;p

Rich,  actually, I think these guys are from NM.

Leilani, you know, great minds think alike.  That is exactly my theory.

You all need to think a little more creatively - it's actually a perfect garage for a very small helicopter.
