Don't panic, I did not rush back to Paris for the weekend, well, at least not the one in Europe.
I went to Las Vegas on Friday night for a wedding on Saturday. I was interested in seeing the Wynn Hotel and the new City Center.
Thanks to John Novak's generosity I got the royal tour of the latter.
I met John at the Chinese New Year exhibit at the Bellagio and then he took me around the three main buildings - Crystals, the upscale shopping center, Vdara, the condo-hotel, and Aria the casino and all points between including the Veer Towers. We also visited the gallery of Dale Chihuly who makes those incredible sculptures you see at the Bellagio, including the chandelier in the reception which is also pictured.

Always fun in Vegas!
Jane
Sounds like you enjoyed the trip to Las Vegas.
Good luck and success.
Lou Ludwig
Jeremy, yes it is fun.
Lou, I did have a good time. Thanks for dropping by.
It appears that you got a great tour of some very beautiful spots on the Vegas strip. Glad to see that you didn't get taken for a long cab ride. haha
I love Vegas, but it's been years since I've been. Donald and I took the kids there and we stayed at Circus Circus and did the inside/air conditioned amusement park for a couple of days and the kids just had a blast. Wow, you know 8 years just slip up on you. I'd love to go back with Donald without the kids. My favorite trip was with my best friend from high school... we had such a wonderful trip. Your slide show makes me really want to plan a trip.
James, I did see some great new places. Thanks for dropping by.
Tammy, if you come this time bring tons of cash. It is extremely expensive. Like going to Europe. Cup of cappuccino $5.50, and the buffets nearly $40.
Jane - AWESOME video - hope you can show me how to do that sooon. Honestly, I've GOT to visit you!
Lori, it is easy. Just load your photos into Picassa. It is a slide show. After loading you get the embed code.
Hi Jane, Really beautiful photos, the last time we were in Vegas we stayed downtown --- I almost like it better than the Strip - but I need to get back there to see all of this in person. Love love love the Chihuly glass. Did you have fun?
Mary, I loved the tour John gave me. He should hire himself out. He definitely has an eye. I am clueless. He was constantly telling me to look up.
Hi Jane,
Love your photos! Really looks like you got the royal tour! Thanks for sharing with us.
Dorie, you are welcome.
Sounds like you had a good time -- neat photos -- thanks for sharing.
Jane, Great photos and thanks for the Picassa tip. I live in the South Bay and used to go to Las Vegas monthly (and I don't even gamble). My 3-1/2 year old daughter has already been there four times, but we don't get there as often for sure. I always try to stay at different places when I go.
I'm glad you had fun...
Jane....great photos....I love Vegas....now did you play any of the tables and did you win???
Love all of the Chinese lanterns. Very dreamy. It's like another world. Wait a minute...it IS another world! It's Vegas! Thanks for bringing us along, Jane. -- Tanya in Montreal
As much as Las Vegas is not "my kind of town," I would love to see the Cihuly glass and those lanterns do look mah-va-lous.
Bob & Carolin, thanks for dropping by.
Tony, I hope your daughter doesn't develop a problem. When you go to Vegas it is definitely a good idea to rotate hotels, although some are definitely better than others. I still love the Bellagio.
Barb, thanks for coming by. No, the tables are way too expensive now. Just played some 25 cent machines and lost about $15.
Tanya, next time you have to come in person.
Janice, that glasswork is amazing.
Alright Jane, what gives, England, Las Vegas, I am sitting behind a desk blogging all day and you are off traveling the world, I am clearly doing something wrong LOL
Gerry, no, you are doing something right. You are working and building your business.
Jane, very nice photos! There are a lot of cool things to photograph in Vegas, I hope that you had a great time!
Tony, thank you very much for dropping by. Yes, I did have a good time.
Prices had gone up so much when I was there last, from my previous visits that I couldn't believe it Jane. Makes me want to play on line and eat at my local $6.00 includes a drink buffet.
Tammy, I don't know how people can afford it any more. I hope you are not drinking and gambling, Tammy? Do you need an intervention?
Hi Jane ! Love the pictures, you are getting to be quite the David Bailey with your snapshots over there !
And what fun to have a Wedding in Vegas !!
... glad you had a great time :o)
Cheers !
PS: ... it wasnt you getting married at the Elvis Chapel was it ?????
.... I'm just sayin....
Sheldon, I have an amazing camera. I just point and click. They come out great. And, no, it was not me getting married, but one of the guests did a great Elvis impersonation. Nice to see you back.
Hi Jane - Great to meet you and spend a fun afternoon at CityCenter! I like your shots of the Bellagio fountains with the Eiffel Tower in the background. That's a perspective that not too many people shoot from. Too bad we ran out of daylight, but you wrapped it up by getting a nice shot of ARIA and the moon. Keep looking up!
John, thanks again. As I mentioned above, I am not that observant when it comes to details. I generally run around getting the "feel" of a place, so it was great to have you pointing things out. And, I most certainly would have walked straight by the dome at the Bellagio. You are right, keep looking up. I will watch out for your photos.
What a wonderful trip and well documented. I take it that the wedding went well also?
Judi, the wedding is a story in itself. The trip was worth it. As you know, that City Center is really something. Thanks for coming by.
Jane, Pictures are great, but I'm still trying to piece together how you happened to run into John to get this tour?? Had you met at rain camp previously or something?? How great is that!
Jane, those are some great photos. I love to see how Vagas can roll out the red carpet. I need to take the Mrs. down sometime.
Ruth, I called him to ask him about City Center and he offered to show me around. Nice guy.
Dan, keep her away from the tables :)
That is such a great story, Jane! Even better than a phone call, huh??? Good for you for taking the iniative, and great that he took the time!
Hey Lady! If I hadn't talked to you, I wouldn't have know that anyone ever really PLANS a wedding in Vegas! Glad you got some awesome photos and had a great time too! I'm living vicariously through your travels--you are one traveling gal!
Have a great week...
Debe, hey, I've slowed down in my old age. Travel while you are young is what I say. The chapel at Paris is big business I am sure. It is actually quite tasteful.
Hi again! You have to check out this post by Gita Bantwal - you're as young as you feel!
Jane ~ I never thought Vegas could look so good! Did you happen to meet Vegas Bob?
I missed my Jane fix. Good to see you enjoyed your visit to the town that never sleeps. The moon over the hotel is an interesting shot.
Melinda, I did not. Thanks for dropping byh.
Leolinda, thank John for that moon. Again, I am oblivious.
Thanks for sharing the photos and your ActiveRain friendship story.
Viva Las Vegas :)
Soooooo. You go to Vegas....Meet John ....and no photos of you. :)))) (teasing) I will say the photos are stunning. Jane and I have been there. We had a blast. Visited many of your photos and must have a return trip to see the City Center. Must close more before going. Glad you had fun. Cheers
Haris, hope you enjoyed the photos.
Claude, you need to close a helluva lot more. Vegas is horrendously expensive. No wonder their business is way down.
Oh, you're such a world traveler, Jane. Love to experience your travels through your slide shows!
Carol, this is more my speed - 40 minute flight. Thanks for dropping by.
We have nothing like that here. Beautiful photos. Hope you had a great time.
Kay, I don't think anyone has anything like Vegas :)
Hi Jane...great sideshow awesome photos..thanks for sharing your trip with us here in the Rain :O))
Fred, glad you enjoyed them. Thanks for coming by.
