Paige found this fun tool. I checked L.A. County and it looks like the migration out of Egypt.
This interactive map on Forbes.com is one of the coolest things I have seen in awhile. It shows the migration both into and out of individual counties (or parishes in the case of Louisiana!).
Don't worry about the 9 city buttons located on the side of the map just go ahead and click on any county in the country. From there click on the blue counties highlighted and it will give you the number of inbound and outbound migration. Data is from 2008 and based on information from Data.gov.
"More than 10 million Americans moved from one county to another during 2008."
As a Realtor, I find it extemely interesting to see this data presented in such an easy to use, interactive way. What do you think? Has your county had more people moving in or out than you would expect?

Wow, I just tried it for my county and the lines were so different from what I thought. I like that is gives the data in both directions, migrating to as well as from your county. Very cool indeed.
I have book marked this article. Thanks so much for sharing this.
Hi there,
Interestingmap, booked marked. Thanks!
Jerri, I was surprised also.
Lynda, you are welcome.
Hi Jane, it looks like a lot of people are moving into Larimer County! Many are coming from Southern California?! I liked that map, very interesting- thanks.
Mary, they are leaving L.A. for Colorado?
Yes Jane, why aren't you coming? LOL
I found that a lot of people are leaving the OC and moving north up the coast and that those who are moving here seem to come from the east.
I guess California sounds great to those experiencing weather in the east. Then they get here and head for cooler less crowded climes?
Mary, I remember your last winter :)
Christine, a revolving door.
Good morning Jane,
This map is way cool!! I remember you got caught in some pretty cold weather visiting your dad..are you telling us you prefer sunny CA?? LOL!!
Dorie, I am totally ruined by the weather here. In fact, I am not going home this Xmas. I might not survivie :)
Jane,
Looks like a great tool. I'm going to look into this...
Cherise, let me know where everyone is fleeing to :)
So Jane, why are people leaving-taxes, immigration issues, or just the economy? Can't beat that southern CA weather though.
Wayne, California is broke. It could be that people are moving back in with their families. There is also a large influx, so I guess it evens out.
