Who knew that there was something so trendy happening in Culver City and for 16 years! Can you send us some music? Blues and swing for me!
Sara in San Antonio
Sara, I am into all that stuff too. And love Zydeco.
Jane, I love music festivals. Have fun and take some photos and post 'em.
Rebecca, thank you. Hope I can make it down there.
Music Festivals always liven up a town, this was a nice photo shot by the way!
Maria
Jane - Looks like a fun event. I love visiting Culver City. Will have to ask my daughter is she knows about these concerts.
Jeff
Jane:
I love music and thought I had heard of everything. What is Zydeco?
This is the sort of thing I miss about living in NYC, there was always something like this going on. Sounds excellent Jane, hope you can make it down there too.
Good morning Jane,
Austin has concerts downtown also which attract many during the summer. Now some other parts of town have joined in and are offering music ..I'm going to put up a post on one we enjoyed Saturday night. Have a great week!
Jane, Fun! Music is after all the universal language. We have an opera colony here. They perform a six week season. It is amazing to observe how music moves people.
Sounds like a great time Jane. I hope you have a lot of fun!
I love these free movie events that more and more communities are doing during the summer months, I also love the outside community movie nights....nice post
Jane - Very cool ! Should be a fun rest of the summer with all of those concerts !
Jane, sounds like an event not to be missed! I love the photo!
Jane, great pic and post. Also, like the way you continue to promote Culver City with more information on your site (looks GREAT), inclusive of statistics.
Jane,
I can hear the tunes from Culver already. Music has a unique way to bring the community together.
I want to check out the Swing and Jazz portions. I agree with Cherise, music does have a way in bringing the community together
Maria, thank you. I appreciate it.
Jeff, Culver City is really up and coming. Something new every day there and great restaurants.
Claudette, Zydeco is the music of New Orleans. I think it is Cajun. I love it.
Roger, yep, I can imagine. L.A. had these kinds of things few and far between and if you blink you miss them.
Dorie, I can imagine Austin is full of these kinds of festivals. When you think Austin you think music.
Charles, I would love to hear those opera concerts. We have a company here but it is downtown, and expensive.
Bill, thank you.
Gerry, I don't think we have free movie events here, but there is a really cheap movie house in Culver City that people can add to their list.
Chris, definitely worth attending.
Jim, thank you. I kinda like that photo too :)
Mary Kay, thank you very much. Appreciate it.
Cherise, it does indeed.
Will, come on over.
Jane ... I like your local post about the annual Culver City Music Festival, and that was probably fun. I enjoy seeing your local posts about Los Angeles and surroundings.
Harrison, thank you kindly.
Jane there are so many music festivals around the country during the summer. Music seems to be the one thing that brings people together. I attended a free Jazz Concert in the park yesterday. It was a great day for it and I really enjoyed it.
Hi Jane - Culver City has really undergone a lot of changes since I was in college and had a sorority sister who lived there. It had had some upscale residential areas and a lot of industrial, then it was mostly industrial and not very pretty, and then it changed again to become more hip, trendy and interesting. I guess the studio lots are still there too, and I have heard that it is again a great place to live.
Charita, there definitely are a lot of things going on in the summer. Jazz isn't my thing, but I bet being outside and enjoying the atmosphere was great.
Susan, it certainly has transformed. There is a lot more room for growth also. The whole Helms Bakery area is art galleries, restaurants. You wouldn't recognize it.
Hi Jane! You take the best photos! That is a beautiful shot of the clock and I'm sure it's a great site for a jazz festival.
Have a great week...
Debe, I am really lucky with my cameras. I just point and click :)
Love that photo! And the music festival sounds like loads of fun! (I'm a fan of Localism posts anyway.) I blogged about kids sumer art programs yesterday. =) BTW, if you'll post this to my Things to Do/Places to Visit group, I'd love to feature it! You really did a great job.
Lisa, thank you. Will join your group. Didn't know it existed.
Free concerts! Sounds great, never heard of Zydeco before, but Salsa sounds like a fun night.
Carol, Zydeco is, I believe, Cajun. You would know it if you heard it.
