Yesterday I went down to the Culver City Music Festival in front of City Hall. This was, in fact, the 16th year of the festival and it is definitely a worthwhile venue. There are so many of these summer festivals and most of them are on Thursday at the same time.
The reason I like Culver City's Festival is that it is extremely easy to park and it is not over packed.
Last night's bands were The Gonzalo Bergara Quartet, a jazz group, followed by Los Pinguos whom I love. They often play on Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Think Gypsy Kings, think Los Pinguos.
Before or after the entertainment there are plenty of great restaurants and bars in the area. You won't go hungry.
As you will see, it was difficult to sit down during the entertainment.
Thursday, July 29th, the entertainment will be Yari More.
See you there!

Sounds like fun!
VB ;-)
I love to sit and listen to great music in the evenings. Especially great country music. Sounds like a lot of fun.
VB, it was.
Kay, I love all kinds of music, including country.
Hi Jane! What a gorgeous venue to enjoy the upbeat music! I love outdoor venues and it looks like you had perfect weather for it too!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend...
Deb, it is a fun place to have music and the accessibility is the best compared with a lot of the L.A. venues. you have a great weekend too,
What fun that looked like. I loved the music and it made me want to dance too. I'm about to find out if Donald feels like dancing.
Tammy, oh dear, I unleashed the tiger.
Jane - I really LIKE Culver CIty and how it has changed over the last few years. There is so much going on there with some great restaurants and entertainment like this.
We have a CD of a local LA band that reminds me of the band you mentioned...at least the style of musc. And the 3rd Street Promenade certainly has its own scene, doesn't it?
Jeff
Jeff, yes, Culver City really is going to be something. It is still somewhat undiscovered. And 3rd St. Promenade is unique in its own right.
Looks like a great social time to let your jazzy soul out for the evening.
Cherise, noo jazz for me. But the rest I loved. I am looking forward to the zydeco in two weeks.
Jane, there is a Greek Church that does that here. And I got a wonderful photo at their last one of what looked like a guy with a hooka! I've never posted it because I was afraid he might get arrested.
Hi Jane, This looks like fun, I always enjoy outdoor concerts. I have to confess, my laptop died yesterday...this old relic computer doesn't have sound! :-(
Jane, Culver City Music Festival looks and SOUNDS like fun.
If you like Zydeco, consider taking some in during the NAR convention in New Orleans!
Patricia, hey they have hookah restaurants here. Go ahead.
Mary, oh, you are missing out. Go get a new one immediately.
Mary Kay, ooh, that would be fun.
Hi Jane - I can see why you enjoy their music. Sounds like you had a lot of fun!
Susan, Zydeco next.
Jane, hopefully, I will have my old laptop back - or a new one tomorrow, just in time to come back and hear this PLUS Zydeco! WooHoo!!
Mary, I will make sure to make a decent video of the Zydeco. That's in 2 weeks. Hope you are back up and running tomorrow. I know the feeling.
Jane,
the advantages of L.A. An endless source of entertainment options. Have always enjoyed my visits out there on business (although Venice Beach was nothing like the TV shows make it seem!).
Liz & Bill, Venice most certainly is not glamorous.
Jane,
It was fun walking the beach up to the pier. I had a full day by myself just to mess around. The street/sidewalk entertainers were interesting to say the least!
Liz/Bill? the old gray mare ain't what she used to be :)
