The 16th annual Culver City Summer Music Festival is half way through, and they are definitely showcasing great music.
Last night was no exception.
Gino Delafose and French Rockin' Boogie are a must-see if they ever come to town. A mix of Zydeco, Cajun and R&B, as you can see people were up on their feet dancing. My line dancing days came back to me and my legs are now sore.

Great videos... great music... and a lot of fun seeing eveyone on their feet!
Hi Jane - What fun! I'm a zydeco fan and I'm dancing to your videos.
Joan, it was a lot of fun.
Susan, A lot of people still don't know what Zydeco is. I love it.
Love Zydeco. A band here last year at the TGIF Jazz Concerts in the Parks in Carlsbad was a tremendous success. Can't remember their name, though. These vids were terrific!!
Jeff
Jeff, thanks. If you hadn't been at Rain Camp you could have come up :) Glad you had a good time.
Looks like fun Jane. Somebody needs to make some gumbo though.
Scott, that's all that's missing :)
Looks and sounds like it was fun. Is it as cold there as it is in San Diego?
Leolinda, were you at Rain Camp? Yes it is pretty cold at night. We have not yet had a summer.
I agree with Scott, Jane! What fun everyone seems to be having--and I saw people from all ages enjoying the music. Love Zydeco--Makes me dance in my seat!
Debe, what, you don't get up?
We know just a "little" about Zydeco here in Acadiana, the heart of Cajun Country! I live near Randall's where the sounds of the featured band can be heard from my place. Hope you know the Cajun 2-Step!
Mike, I guess you know a helluva lot more than I. Fabulous music and I was trying to catch up with the people who were probably doing teh 2-step. Would love to learn it.
You haven't lived 'till you've been to a Fais-Do-Do or a Cochon de Lait!
I love Zydeco. Especially the guy with the chrome bustier.
Mike, what those are I have mo idea, but a milk pig sounds interesting.
Larry, I didnt look at it that way.
Both are Cajun Festivals - a Fais Do Do is French for "go to sleep". The term was coined as parents would put the children to bed in order for the adults to party. A Cochon de Lait is a pig roast and is really just another term for a social get-together/party. The one thing I love most about Acadiana is the French laissez-faire attitude and the philosophy that incorporates celebrating life.
P.S. - Next time I'm in L.A. we'll have to get together for some 2-step lessons.
HA! Too busy typing! LOL
I do need a podium in my house so that I can be on my laptop and walk in place! Hmm...Debe Maxwell's patent pending on a rolling podium that one can use like the baby jogging strollers--a weather-proof-blogging-jogging-podium that will hold your laptop in place and a little cover that will prevent glare from the sun while you're jogging and blogging! Like that? Now, THAT would get me out of my seat!
The wheels never stop! LOL
Mike, thanks for the education. And as far as two step goes, finding a place that has it would be a challenge.
Debe, you are just on a roll aren't you. What a great idea, building a contraption for blogging on the go. There aren't enough hours in the day to keep up with it all.
Have a great weekend!
Exactly! The Mobile Social Media Platform--what do you think of that?!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend too.
OH! I heard you on the training class the other day! Exciting stuff and if it's as huge as I think it's going to be...
Hi Jane, I don't know how you could stand still long enough to film the videos, that music just makes you want to move! Very fun and a great way to start the morning!
What training class ? where have I been? You and Debe are going to walking and jogging in her new invention and I'll be wondering where you both went!
Zydeco is just a little side step from my bluegrass roots, so I LOVE IT!
Jane, I like the music and the videos were great, so clear. What camera are you using?
Jane,
Good to see people having a good time. I don't know of Zydeco, but now will look out for this music. Have a great weekend.
Jane, very impressive camera work...tough to pull that off when you're wanting to dance!
I've not met Mike (#17), but am very familiar with Lafayette and can vouch for what he says, including having been to Randolls. It is almost magical the way Cajuns come together around music such as you feature in your video.
Deb, I signed up to sponsor an area, but then decided against it. I was way to quick on the draw.
Mary, it was all I could do not to jiggle around, but I had the camera. The training class was a webinar on the new community pages and sponsorship of your area. If you check you will now see hyper local pages instead of Localism when you write a post.
Jenna, Zydeco, Bluegrass. Love it all.
Rebecca, my last camera died, so I bought a Canon Powershot SX200 IS.
Cherise, it is fabulous music, as you can hear. Have a great weekend too.
Mary Kay, I was hoping you would drop by to hear your local music. I am jealous that you can go anytime to listen to this stuff.
Sheldon, that's where I first heard it also. It really draws you in.
Wow. Those are some really great dancers in that top video you posted. Looks like it was a really good time!
Melissa, there were some really good ones there. There was even someone who teaches that kind of dancing. I have her card. Right now she teaches in Long Beach if you want to make the trip :)
My wife equates Zydeco with good old time rock and roll 'cause you can't sit still for either one! Of course I like the things that traditionally go with Zydeco - like crawfish, oysters and a good cold one.
MB
Michael, you most certainly can't sit still. That's for sure.
Jane ..You had me dancing around my office with that one ..what fun !!! Thank you Loved it

Hannah, hope you didn't hurt yourself :)
