This is absolutely hysterical. You don't have to understand it to get caught up in his obvious amusement at the drivel he has been given to read.
Update: I found a translation:
in dependence on annotation 6a, chapter 2 of KN have the customs officials additionaly *laughs* *laughs some more* so-called erl*laughs again* to customs tariff *applaus* to customs tariff published. After that, there are some articles added, still in chapter 2, due to their assembly process include spice, provided that they don't change the character of an article *laughs again, as does the parliament* Brace, for example Bhhbbbüh.... *nearly dies laughing* for example Bündnerfleisch *laughs again and he keeps it together after that*
Via The Huffington Post and YouTube I saw this hilarious clip of Switzerland's finance minister, trying to answer a serious parliamentary questionsabout "imports of cured meats".
"The video showing Hans-Rudolf Merz convulsing with laughter at the unintelligible bureaucratic language in his script has created popular sympathy for the outgoing finance chief. His speech has been viewed by more than 300,000 people on YouTube and other websites since Monday and prompted one maker of air-dried meats to advertise their wares with the slogan: "Never lose your sense of humor" - AP
I don't understand a single word that he's saying, but his uncontrollable giggling is infectious, and I found myself laughing out loud while watching him. Enjoy!

Pretty funny, Jane!
Phil
ROFL...he had me cracking up. Very refreshing! Ironically, I have the same reaction when I see most of our govt bureaucrats speaking, too!
I suppose most of us would react that way reading something a government offical wrote. :) Pretty funny.
Phil, it is isn't it.
Susan, shame they don't.
Tammy, I would love to hear the translation.
Oh yes, this would be much better if we knew what he was reading, but I love his eyes when he starts to giggle. I'll bet he's a fun person to know.
Thanks for posting this - my whole self always feels uplifted when I have a good laugh.
Marte, glad you enjoyed it.
The universal language. Such a great face! Thanks for putting this up. Lightened my load this evening.
I know what you think about reblogging, so I just HAD to stop in and see what all the fuss was about! What Saturday night live could do with this one, huh??
I'm not sure what he is saying but he sure is laughing.
Jane I don't know how he got through it. I'm almost glad that I could not understand him as he was talking. I don't think I could have stood to laugh any harder.
Too funny, Jane!!! Thanks for sharing! :)
Leilani
P.S. Thank you! #39. ;)
Jane, The laugh attack...the sheerly ludicrous government language at work...good to see the U.S. doesn't have monopoly on it!
I saw this but agree it bears repeating. There could never be TOO MUCH laughter could there?
I had seen this Jane and I thought it was hysterical! Thanks for reblogging - it's always good to laugh!
That's hilarious! I'm going to forward to my client from Switzerland and see if I can get a translation.
Jane, when all is said and down, we don't know what he said, but he certainly did himself proud, and gave a meat compay a great ad.
Cece, it is a giggle.
Ruth, I am a huge proponent of reblogging. I have no clue of what you speak. There are just some exceptions :)
Tim, I found a translation, above. It is nonsense.
Charita, infectious, isn't it.
Leilani, your age?
Bill, I think this was even more over the top.
Charles, most certainly not.
Leesa, can't get too much, for sure.
Amanda, I think the translation above might be it.
Ed, he sure did.
I think we need to have some more laughs like this. I'm going to forward this to some friends of ours in Switzerland.
That was so funny it was painful. Reminds me of getting the giggles on the pulpit at church when you're supposed to be "reading" or leading a song. The things that happen when we put ourselves on a microphone! Thanks for the great stress relief - it was so fun to laugh along with him.
I was laughing along with this man! So funny! Especially because it's very uncharacteristic of the Swiss. Who knew deli and sausages were so funny!
Cherise, I bet they have seen this already.
Cara, you are welcome. He looks like a fun guy.
Nina, for sure.
Jane this clip has had me so tickled that I just keep coming back to view it.
Charita, you are welcome any time :)
Hi Jane, Laughter is so contagious - I loved it and it was fun to hear how the other people in the room got to laughing too. Great choice for a reblog :-)
Mary, he is so much fun. Shame he is leaving his position.
What a kind-looking man, and human too! Reminds me of being in church with my family as a child, and my sister and I starting to laugh uncontrollably because of...wait for it...my MOTHER! She would get started giggling and then that'd be it. All three of us in hysterics, and my dad glaring at us :)
