O.K. Who's the Joker? Who Turned the Oven Up High?

One minute I am complaining we don't have a summer.  Next, that it's too Heathot.  But the heat complaint was short-lived because we actually didn't have a summer in Los Angeles.

Now it is beyond ridiculous.  108 near the beach on September 27th.  113 downtown L.A. is the HOTTEST EVER RECORDED there.

A little sympathy please......  It's our turn now.

Jane, We've had a week of super unusually hot temperatures here too for this time of year, but nothing close to yours.  My sympathies.  Hope things cool off soon for you.

None from me sorry - I lust for that dry heat, I miss it.  Wait, did you say 113?

Posted by Margaret Goss, Winnetka Realtor Winnetka & North Shore IL Homes for Sale (Baird & Warner Real Estate) over 1 year ago

Jane the good news is by Wednesday the beaches will be back to the 70's. BTW I am working out of the house today. As you know I live in Marina Del Rey and all I have on is the fan and it is comfortable:))) How is your part of the world??

Posted by Endre Barath,Jr. Los Angeles Home Sales 310.486.1002 (Beverly Hills,CA. Coldwell Banker) over 1 year ago

Leah, thank you.  Appreciate it :)

Margaret,  did I say dry heat :)

Endre,  are you in a pocket?  Santa Monica is 100 today, Westwood 106.  Can't believe all you have is a fan.  I never use the air conditioning, I am too cheap, but it's on today.

I'll even give you a little sympathy there Jane..........yikes, that's hot.  I remember being in Palm Springs years ago in August and the temperature hitting 117...........hot, hot, hot.

No sympathy Jane.  We got up to 91 on Sunday.  I guess we're all about 1 and a half months behind the normal season temps... g

Jane - Yep, pretty much the same out here in Simi Valley.  UUUGGGHHH!!!

Posted by Donne Knudsen CalState Realty Services (Los Angeles & Ventura Counties in CA) over 1 year ago

Roger,  I believe we beat Palm Springs today and that is highly unusual.  But thanks for your sympathy.

Gordon,  and I thought you were nice.  91 is quite cool and you have that lovely mountain air.  Can you imagine what we are breathing in here.

Donne,  oy, Simi Valley.  I can only imagine.

Jane - amazing isn't it? I suspect there will be all sorts of records set today. It was about 95 here in Carlsbad, which is the hottest it's been in a very long time, and jsut a few miles inland 108. Everyonbe else in the country seemed to have hot weather so now it's our turn.

Jeff,  no turns. I don't want any turns.  I like hot, but this.....

Barbara,  not usually humid.  And snow, well you may keep that.  Nice to look at, that's about it.  Just send me pictures.

Endre,  warning.  Don't!!!!

Hot up here too ... and I don't have air conditioning. Sticky, sticky, sticky. Ugh!

Cynthia,  unbelievable isn't it.  We should be sitting in a coffee shop somewhere, which I did for a couple of hours.  And I have air-conditioning.  But the time it cools my place I will probably rack up $100 in bills.

Posted by Jane Peters - Los Angeles Real Estate DRE# 01439865 (Power Brokers Int'l) over 1 year ago

So that's where our heat went.  Can you send it back?  It was abou 79 degrees here today. I'm cold natured so I get cold if it's 80 degrees and the wind is blowing. Give me 113 degrees over 33 degrees any day.

Posted by Charita Cadenhead, Your Birmingham, AL Realtor® & Property Manager of Choice (Bham WIiRE Realty LLC ) over 1 year ago

Holy cow!  And to think I was complaining when we hit 112 here in Huntsville.  Our weather turned from blazing HOT to cool.  I"m not ready for fall yet.  I'll take heat any day over the cold.  I'll pass on 127 though, lol.

Posted by Elizabeth Cooper-Golden Huntsville AL MLS - (Huntsville Alabama Real Estate, (@ Homes Realty Group)) over 1 year ago

Charita, I don't think so.  There is heat and there is heat.  I hate the cold, but this is ridiculous.

Elizabeth, as I told Charita,  I don't think you would like this heat.

How late is the library open? A movie? A mall? City Hall -- I'll bet they have AC!

Posted by Leslie Ebersole, REALTOR® Chicago's Western Suburbs (Baird&Warner Fox Valley) over 1 year ago

Jane, you have my sympathy.  We had a beautiful day today in the low 80's with sun and a light breeze.  As I watered by potted plants this afternoon, I remembered I was picking the seeds off my petunias after the first frost this time last year, so it is our turn to have a nice long summer.  But you should take comfort in knowing that out of about a dozen tomatoe plants, I only harvested about 8 tomatoes this year.  Too cold in the evening and dry.

OHHH !!! Weeeeell now !!!!!

Loooky who has a few choice words about "The Weather" today !!!!!!!!!!!!

I believe I remember a same individual scoffing at our East coast weather earlier this year claiming that LA is always beautiful and sunny so come out and join you there, or stop whining about the East Coast Snow !!!

Hows that 'beautiful sunny' environment doing today ?!?!?!  Maybe there is such a thing as 'too much beautiful sunnyness" ?????

... it was a fabulous 78 degrees and sunny over this way today !

Sorry, couldnt resist ;o)

Dorie,  the world has gone wacky.

Jennifer,  thank you.

Joan,  thank you.  Trying to keep cool.  It should break by Wednesday.

Ruth,  one extreme to the other.

Patricia,  it is.  Broke all records.

Sheldon,  I am waiting.  Winter is coming.  I'll be ready.

Hi Jane, We only got to 111 today and cooling trend expected tomorrow. We are only going to hit between 99 and 100. I'' be sure to take a jacket. Isn't the temp unreal. I touched a leaf on one of flowering plants and it was crisp. I think the plants had a heat stroke.

Does it cool off at night at all??  Remember, I used to live down there for 30+ years, and if the breeze picked up and it dropped 30 degrees . . . but those nights with no wind, and it stayed stagnant == ah, yes, a little piece of San Fernando Valley hell.  On Saturday, up north, we were hovering around 60, and it rained.  Today was warm at 85, but it's cooled off.  I feel for you Jane.  Drink water!!

Jane, I caught the temps late last night for your area, and that is a touch painful. Could it be someone telling the LA party-goers to tone it down a bit?

Posted by Ed Silva CDPE, GRI, ABR, Real Estate Agent (RE/MAX Professionals, CT 203-206-0754) over 1 year ago

ooo Jane I am so sorry you had a split second of really hot heat haha. It's like Cali had a few days of ridiculous heat all rolled into one..but really that is desert degrees out there.  I don't care what people say, global warming or not, either way the atmosphere on earth is changing (from the looks of it not in the best direction) Trying to be positive but realistic at the same time.

Posted by Laura Cerrano and Carole Provenzale Owner, Feng Shui Long Island & New York (Feng Shui Long Island & New York City/Feng Shui Manhattan ) over 1 year ago

Carla,  unfortunately not one of those heatwaves where it cools off.  It was probably in the 80s last night.  Hopefully will be back to something normal tomorrow.  I remeber driving through the Valley one night around 8:00 p,m. and it was 104.

C,  summer in Florida.  Ouch.  The humidity is as high as the temps.

Craig,  it looks like the grid held out because I can imagine that a/c going 24/7.

Ed,  we do have a terrible rep don't we!

Laura,  this year was a great example of all's not well with the planet.
