Carroll Ave. is a historic, Victorian era street in the Angelino Heights area of Echo Park. Angelino Heights in Echo Park is one of the first suburbs of Los Angeles with unique architectural styles dominated by more than 50 Victorian era residences. Carroll Ave. showcases the best Queen Anne-Eastlake Victorians in the city, and more than a dozen of them have been designated Los Angeles cultural historic monuments. The 1300 block of Carrol Ave. is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. This historic designation helps preserve the architectural and historic integrity of Echo Park's Angelino Heights I wandered the street yesterday. These Victorian era residences are magnificent with spectacular views of downtown Los Angeles.

Jane - It has been so long since I've been in Echo Park ... but I'll tell you that last time I was there ... these homes may have been there ... but they sure didn't look as well kept and desirable as these do now! So I guess, all things become new again - if we wait long enough! Thanks for sharing ... and for provoking some fond memories ..
Jack, glad I could take you down memory lane.
Wow - I used to go to Dodger Stadium all the time and never knew there was an area like this. I don't think of Victorian homes being built in Los Angeles, but there they are.
Beautiful and traditional architecture, brings back memories when I grew up in LA.
Hi Jane, That is my idea of a group of fabulous Victorian homes. The first one is my favorite but they are all outstanding.
Kind of reminds me of my neck of the woods! Of course, you won't find side-yards and lawns, but hey...
Stunning lattice work on that far right home in the still photo, Jane. Beautiful!
What amazing homes, Jane! They certainly don't make them like that anymore. Such artistry and history in that community of LA.
Jane - These are amazing looking homes on Carroll Avenue in Echo Park Los Angeles CA. Great information and beautiful pictures!
What a spectacular street ! I wonder if there are any photos of these houses from waay back ! I love looking at the people that used to live in these very homes that we walk by today ! Fascinating ! And beautiful homes.
Margaret, L.A. is full of surprises. There is some amazing architecture here.
Brian, glad I could bring back some good memories.
William, aren't they just.
David, another check mark for L.A.
Bruce, that one is my favorite.
Carol, it is a much maligned city.
Michelle, thank you.
Sheldon, there is a photo of one of them being moved from its previous lot a few streets away. A lot of history here.
These are beautiful homes! We live in a home from the early 1800's and there are a number of other homes in our community from the 1800's and 1700's but not on the scale of the homes in Echo Park. Magnificent!
Nina, you should post pictures of your area. Sounds fabulous.
Victorians are my favorite style of home. I could so live there! Well, if I could afford it, of course!
Jane,
Magnificent Victorians and reminds me somewhat of our downtown ambiance... g
Craig, there is a short sale for $600K. Wanna offer?
Gordon, that would be interesting to see.
Jane, love the post, one word...awesome
Gerry, thank you.
We got a ton of turn-of-the-century homes . . . I'll have to post a blog about that to show you!! When the weather gets a little nicer.
Carla, Oooh. Can't wait. Go now.
Jane, they are just beautiful. I love this old architecture but have to go to the city to enjoy it, thanks for the tour.
Mary, I am sure you have your share in Denver.
Jane, I like the way you added in the Picassa web album for the Echo Park neighborhood. It's very cool. Victorian homes are pretty amazing.
Jen, I never see Victorian homes as lovely as these in England.
