Simply amazing post - I was astounded at the sheer amount of information you presented. You really do know L.A.! I have been to Santa Monica a couple of times and always enjoyed it. Looks like a fun area.
Susan, thank you. Santa Monica is a great place to live, but there are so many areas it can be confusing And the price ranges are so different.
Good evening Jane,
Well you just laid it all out for any buyer wanting to look. Your phone must be ringng off the hook! Excellent presentation!
Excellent post about Santa Monica Jane. You are clearly the expert in Santa Monica. I'll have to take a hard look at this and write something about Anaheim Hills!
Dorie, thak you kindly.
Vic, go for it.
Jane, Before I buy a home in Santa Monica, I will just contact you and you can dig around, find it and then sell it to us. Why anyone does all the work without an expert (like you) in their pocket, is beyond me!
Hi Jane - thanks for educating me. I actually never knew all the different neighborhoods of Santa Monica... even tho I've lived 3x in southern CA!
Nice post Jane. I've been out to Santa Monica quite a bit, but never knew about the different neighborhoods. I'm sure this is educational for the folks in that market as well
Jane, why thank you. You are too kind.
Peggy, it is a diverse city for sure.
Scott, thanks. Not everyone realizes that Santa Monica has so many different areas.
This is a great overview of Santa Monica, Jane. I had no idea it had 5 ZIPs. When I first came to California, in 1976, I went to the Santa Monica pier and smashed the tampon dispenser in the bathroom because I didn't have a quarter. Probably more than you want to know about my first visit to California. But I really loved Santa Monica and had a hard time trying to decide between that beach town or Newport Beach. But I ultimately chose Newport Beach because at the time it was more affordable. Yowza, you can really buy something in Santa Monica for under $200,000?
Elizabeth, that was probably an REO for a box :) And, I did hear about that crime in Santa Monica in 1976. It was on the international news.
The first time I visited Santa Monica way back in the summer of 1973, I wanted to live on that beach. Alas, it never happened, but I did wind up in San Diego exactly 20 years later. I guess I got addicted to California during that summer.
Russel, and we know why, based on this week's weather.
Jane, I visited Santa Monica while working for an ad agency in Atlanta in 1979. We were hiring an animator to do a bank commercial. What a beautiful city - I would live anywhere!
Sharon, I think the ultimate, if you are living in Santa Monica, is to be near the beach.
My 22 yr old son just landed an internship in Santa Monica, flew him one way from NC with a hope and prayer he lands a great job in film production! This post was very enlightening and quite an extensive amount of info...thanks !! If I need someone to guide us, you will be the gal!
Michele, thank you. I appreciate it. Let's hope your son finds that perfect job. It is a tough market to be in.
